KM 2560, no power to Operation panel.

We have a KM 2560 that when turned on, the screen will only switch on for about 20 seconds, and then switch off again. We have tested the Main board, the high voltage board, the engine board, and even the power source board, on a working machine, but they all worked fine. Only when we tested the engine board, the machine gave an error code, but at least the machine stayed on. When we pit them back in our machine, the problem of the power just cutting off, continues to happen. Any one else faced a problem like this before.

    Thanks.

It sounds like you answered your own question. What was the engine error?
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

      Just guessing:

If you installed those boards correctly, you removed the firmware DIMMs and transferred then to the new PWB before installing.
The error you got was probably a serial number conflict, by not swapping the firmware DIMM.

Most likely you have a firmware problem, either because of a bad DIMM, or corrupt firmware. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

The machine at first had a problem, where when switched on, "Program Loading would appear, and then I decided to update the firmware, one day after numerous times of trying, but this time, after about twenty minutes, the screen panel went blank. Now when switched on, the panel would turn on for about ten 20 seconds, and then switch off again. The error that the engine board gives, when tested on the working machine, a C0180 error. But like I said, the machine panel at least stays on, and doesn't turn off like when tested on its original machine.

So you'll need to order a firmware DIMM. Yes? =^..^=

SO what you are saying blackcat, is that if I change the DIMM on the main board, then the panel will stay on, and not switch off?..and then I will be able to update the firmware?...

You say that you tested every board in another machine, except the control panel. I would assume that Blackcat is telling you to replace the Dimm on the operation panel. You can do that only if this unit is old style with a dimm on it. The newer models of this copier no longer have a dimm just a flash chip soldered on the board. The C0180 was because you neglected to swap the eeprom on the other machine. The new panel will have the normal Boot switch as well. This allows you to erase the flash chip to rewrite it. this procedure can take up to 45 minutes and must be done correctly or you will brick it.

Thanks for the feedback kkendric, I had never thought of the boot switch at the bottom. But to my experience, the memory light should continue to flash, and then when it stops flashing, then I switch the machine off, and then put the boot switch back in place. But what happens if there is no activity on the memory light?.....and sorry, but could you explain what you meant when you said that if its not done correctly, I could "brick it"?..

I don't have any experiance with this machine. But have been told that the op panel board goes bad often.??

Yeah I thought that too MR Bill, but I had the operation panel tested on a working machine, and it worked just fine. I even brought another operational panel from a working machine and tested it on the machine that is here, but the same problem keeps coming up. So yeah still working on it. I also tried switching the that little switch at the bottom of the control panel to boot mode, but no activity at all on the operational panel. Still can't find a solution.

Have you tried resetting the serial number using maintenance mode 004 when you get the C0180 error? I'm just wondering if swapping out the engine board might have worked once the C0180 code was cleared...

For now I am not too concerned with the C0180 error code, as I am only getting that code, because I had not switched the EEPROMS, while testing the boards on a working machine. Right now my problems is that the operation panel, only turns on for about ten seconds, and then it switches off. I have tried to over write it, by turning the little switch at the bottom of the operation panel to boot. But to my knowledge the memory light should continue to flick, and then when completed, the memory light will just stay on. But when I do it on this machine, the memory light flicks three or four times, and then just completely turns off. First time for me to encounter a problem like this, so has anyone else encountered this problem before?.
