    2gr05310, 2bj25280, 2h005610 ..............

    2GR05310, 2BJ25280, 2H005610 are the part numbers for foam strips - KyoceraMita calls them "sponges", which are mounted on the the touch panels.

    I'm wondering why other manufacturers such as KonicaMinolta obviously do not use these foam strips for almost identical touch panels mounted under very similar conditions in their control panels.

    We are supplying large quantities of our aftermarket touch panels for those KyoceraMita machines without receiving any complaints. However, now suddenly customers start to ask us to supply the "sponges" as well. Is there any good technical reason that one manufacturer feels the need for those foam strips and others not?

          There's nothing terribly technical about them, just self adhesive foam. You can probably buy something similar by the yard, then cut it to whatever lengths you so desire.

          Just one example: Gasket Tape, Foam Gasket Tape, Adhesive-Backed Strip Gasketing – Stockwell Elastomerics, Inc.

              Yeah, you can get it at Home Depot or somewhere similar. They call it "weather-stripping"...

                      I also reuse the old ones, just be thankful you can purchase the tablet (touch panel), many Canon models attach the touch screen to the LCD so you have to buy both at the same time, even if the LCD is still good.

                          Perhaps so that the tablet and LCD display do not actually touch. Most of the time an aggressive user will break the tablet, but not the actual display. And also so that dust and dirt do not get between the layers. =^..^=

                                  There are multiple bulletins regarding the touch panels and the failure of the older style adhesive causing this problem. I have to agree with BlackCat that it is obvious that the sponges are for the protection of the LCD/Touch panel as the sponges go on the LCD side of the touch panels. They may also keep dust and debris from getting between the touch panel and the LCD.
