recently we brought a problematic 7530 into the workshop to overhaul. several techs worked on it and i did the final reassembly and testing. the rear bush for the transfer unit was missing so not thinking it through I put a bearing in place of the rear bush that matched size (it should have been plastic).
I tested with a 500 page run and the stack in the finisher looked fine on a single sheet but when stacked you could see the toner at the leading edge of the paper. whe i pulled out the conveyance the transfer belt was black as you described.
after trying a new transfer unit and scratching our heads for a while on of the guys came up and said "thats not right" pointing to the bearing. basically the bearing allowed the transfer unit to earth which meant the brush in the cleaning unit couldn't electrostaically clean the belt.
once we put got the right part it was instantly clean.
i would put my multimeter on a metal part of the left hand side roller and to the frame of the conveyance unit and make sure there is not a circuit.

        hope this helps.
The force will be with you always.

          7530 toner on belt issue

Thankx for all your help fellow techy's,one of our guys had a brass washer on the end of the transfer belt rather than an insulated washer. One one end it was an insulated washer, but on the other end he had a brass washer there going directly to deck...what a dumb ass...and they bought the machine into the workshop for that..Geeesh.
