    cs5500i w/ DF770 code c8250

When you try to sort or staple the display reads "cannot use finisher" The rest of the machine is operable.
8250 points to the tray motor, so we replaced that and the PWB and no joy. It wont initialize.
Looking more at the event log, I noticed that there was a jam at the same count as the c code. It is 6511 which is bundle discharge sensor still blocked. now wtf is a bundle discharge sensor? Seems to be located near the exit side of the staple unit.
Looking all thru the machine including the staple unit, i dont see any paper stuck.
Can somebody lead me into the light?

Have you tried something as simple as a U906 partial reset? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Well, I'll be a ham sandwich, U906 took care of the rest of it. I dont think I knew about that code, but I'm sure I wont forget it.
        Thanks Blackcat

            Re: cs5500i w/ DF770 code c8250

Had this code today on a 5501i with a DF-770C finisher. Please note this code is only described in the DF-770C service manual, not the main engine manual or the DF-770D. Resetting the code with U906 didn't help, but running the tray motor in U240 then running the U906 reset worked. Just to be safe I cleaned the tray lift sensors. The plastic part of the tray was stressed on one side. Maybe someone left a trashcan under the tray and caused it to fail by overdriving it. Not sure, but just wanted to post this in case it saves someone some time. Don't know if code will come back, but working for now.
