    Fax vs PDQ machine

I have a customer with a Kyocera 2551ci with a fax (W) B fitted. The fax is on the same phone line as a PDQ machine. Is there anyway of changing settings on the fax so these 2 devices do not conflict when dialing in/out? Again Sales told the customer it would be ok and the engineer would get it working!! Brilliant. Over to you Guys!!

Always plug phone line to fax IN jack and external device to EXT jack on the fax, then your fax will say line in use when external device is communicating

      Re: Fax vs PDQ machine

Other than that devices like faxes and credit card machines that communicate over the phone line are dumb. They make several, sometimes erroneous assumptions:

      1) They assume that if the fax (or whatever) is not online, then the line is available.
      2) They assume that they are the only device on the phone line.

As a result, it's like having a rude, too-drunk party guest. He's talks too loud, right over everyone else's conversation, and never listens.

Two or more devices on the same phone line routinely try to talk over each other, resulting in errors for all three or four devices (if you include two senders and two receivers). The only way to get full functionality for both devices is to have then on separate dedicated phone lines. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Use a com switch 7500 from command Communications. Both devices plug into it as well as the phone line , the device will regulate line use and direct in comming calls to the correct device.
