FS-3920DN configure with software "ADP Drive XL"

Wondering if anyone has come across this. This software "ADP Drive XL" it seems is used alot for example with a parts department at car dealership which is my case. My company wants me to try and fix it though I have no clue about this software.

This computer with this software has a print driver installed in windows using an IP port as the default printer. No other driver is installed. When they print an invoice it actually prints out on the same model located in a different part of the building. I can't find anyway to configure the this printer sitting next to the computer to be the printer to use. Now there is another print button that basically takes a screen shot of the software and does print out on the correct printer. Software looks confusing and I am digging through the ADP website to try and figure out how to do this.

You aren't going to have much luck with this, and I'll explain why. When a Kyocera printer receives a print job the first few lines of print data are in PreScribe (Kyocera's native language). I don't know anything about your ADP Drive XL software, but if there is no print driver, the application is sending PCL or PostScript print data directly to the printer's IP address. Software like this was designed for HP printers, which do not use PreScribe code.

When the Kyocera does not get PreScribe commands in the first few lines of the print job it will do one of two things:
    1) It will print one or two pages of PreScribe code, then start printing the print job.
    2) The whole thing will be a PostScript error, which means that you'll get hundreds of pages, each with a few characters, usually lots of smilies and hearts, and symbols.

    You have two options:
    1) You can install an HP printer.
    2) You can try to convince Kyocera to stop using PreSribe native language. You won't have much luck with this.

I'll attach a few samples of print data captures so that you can see what I mean.

Just out of morbid curiosity, have you determined yet whether it's PCL XL or PostScript2 or PostScript3 print language generated by application?

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I have no clue what language is sent or how to find out. I did notice on the ADP site that there are several kyocera models supported by this software. Unfortunately their site is garbage and links to documentation don't work. At this point I can only see if I can call them while onsite and hope they can help me sort it out. What happened I think is equipment got moved around. The software does print to the other same model just fine located in different part of the building. Makes me think it can be configured to work.

First the other printer must have the IP address that the printer you want to print to needs. Change both printers IP addresses. Change the printer next to computer to the ip address of the printer that prints the report, then change the other one to some other IP address.

I've actually thought about that. I may just do it and be done with it. This is a low priority call for me so not sure when I'll get to it as I have been slammed but I will update the thread.

I went back and I found that the printer in the other part of the building is an ADP branded printer using a kyocera engine. It actually has an ADP logo on it with no kyocera markings. I found out that they have special proprietary firmware. The regular kyocera printer they want to use will not work as it will likely just print garbage.

In the past I haven't had much luck attaching .txt files, but maybe the new incarnation of the forum will do better. It appears that I'll have to zip .txt and .prn files.

If you want to see all the null characters open the attachments in Textpad or XVI31 Text Editor. Otherwise Notepad will do. Note that all print jobs start out in PreScribe: !R! SEM9 ... , then change to Printer Job Language (PJL) in which the tray commands, duplex and job accounting are selected, then it finally changes to PCL XL or PostScript2 print language for the page data.

The first attachment is an excerpt of a data capture of the Kyocera 7 page test in PCL-XL print language.:

The second attachment is a header I prepared for PostScript documents being sent from an application called BAAN, which sends PostScript2 print data directly from the application to the IP address. This header adds tray commands and duplex functionality to the Copystar CS-5050.:

I would have the customer contact their support rep for their ADP app, and stop wasting time on something you can't support

My company wants to be able to support anything. But basically I contacted their support rep for them. I can assure you we charged for our time.
