    TA400ci strange happenings

Complaint was a weird noise, turned out to be transfer belt fell apart and was binding and not turning. Replaced with used one and was fine until I got a call back on noise again. replaced front toner feed assembly with another and again all ws fine until an hour ago when customer called complaining about noise again.
Anyone have some good suggestions. I have a parts machine handy.
    Thanks

I don't see how this helps you, but here are the Saturn records coded C13 or E13 (inoperative/noise and operative/noise, respectively). I can't imagine how you would prepare for these possibilities ... but I'll leave that in your hands:

Loud gear noise from the finisher. "Cannot use finisher due to a failure", preceded by "C8330". Customer is able to use most functions, except finisher. Large paper clip is blocking movement of the staple tray front shift arm. Remove many paperclips from the finisher, including the one blocking the staple tray front shift arm.

Gear noise when copying & printing. Does not affect image quality. Black drum cleaning unit drive gears broken. Replace the black drum unit. Perform color calibration.

Gear noise near MP tray when copying & printing. Does not affect image quality. Gear 20T in the coupler that drives tray B3 gets knocked out of position after removing a paper jam from the MP tray. Re-position gear 20T in the coupler. Insert rubber spacer between the slotted halves of the shaft. Remove any labels you may find.

Gear noise near MP tray when copying & printing. Does not affect image quality. Transfer belt cleaning drive jumps. The linkage can be watched through a small hole in the right side frame (with cover removed). Gear noise stops when transfer belt cleaning unit is grabbed through right side frame. Rear transfer rail wears. Tried MP Tray drive assembly (302JZ93050). Temporarily shim the bronze spacer bushings on rear of transfer belt assembly out as far as the clip allows (and/or swap with front bushings). Replace transfer rail imaging rear (302H702160), and mylar (320H702220). ET: 5.5 hrs.

Gear noise intermittently from feed area. No jams recorded. Latching feature has broken off of inner guide B1 at the front. Waste toner drive transmitted through the guide B1 causes the gear noise by disengaging at the front. Replace Guide Middle H Unit (302H794520), 150 minutes.

Growling noise whenever the motor runs. May be intermittent, on CS-250ci. Remove transfer belt, then run sim U030 to identify vibrating black developing unit. Only very slight developer leakage from rear seals. Replace DV865 black developing unit (302JZ9319A).

Rattling noise at exit. Exit idler roller vibrate. Use light oil to lubricate exit unit idler rollers.

Rubbing noise (4) times at power On, and when awakened from sleep mode. Friction where the cams drive the laser slit glass mechanism. To test press: System Menu, V to pg 2, Adjustment & Cleaning, Laser Scan Cleaning, Execute. Lubricate the cam surfaces that drive the laser slit glass shutters with white grease.

Squealing noise, intermittently. Possibly related to J91 & J95 jams in the DF-780 finisher. Lower gray rollers in the JS-720 job separator break loose from the shaft and slide to the outer edges of the cutout in the exit assembly. The sound results from rubbing on the sides of the slot, and creates gray rubber shavings. With JS-720 installed, re-position the lower gray rollers to the center of each slot. Remove the JS-720, mark the desired location, and superglue each roller to the shaft. Or replace shaft (303MA94021).

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Hey Blackcat we might be able to get above published, lol.
Growling noise seems like the logical one. Black DV unit might be the bad boy.
Going to try that sim. Will let you know how I make out.
