Need assistance loading firmware on a KM 4050. I have tried a USB and a Compact Flash but no luck. As soon as you turn the system on the display system says program loading a just hangs until the error cfb31 is displayed. Also can not get into maintenance mode. Can not get past the program loading message.

Re: Unable to load firmware
I've seen the CF-B31 on a few occasions. Most often, it's because some nice technician (maybe you) was working on the operation panel, and during re-assembly accidentally plugged in the 5-pin connector into connector YC9 instead of YC1 on the op panel PWB. The connectors are exactly the same size, but the harness is of different length, so it's extra difficult to assemble this way. I've done it myself. The machine will not take firmware, and error out.
The remaining occasion turned out to be a defective Main Eeprom (part#: 302GR94201), then load firmware via compact flash.
From conversations with other techs I've heard of occasions where the problem turned out to be the op panel Eeprom.
If I was putting money on it, I'd say a tech installed an op panel tablet very recently. When I had discovered what I'd done, I only had one thing to say: "Dumbass." =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: Unable to load firmware
For the record, you are correct my tech left me this problem late Friday. The 5 pin connector plugs into YC1 and not YC9. YC9 is left blank.
Thanks for your help.Comment
