    CS4501i can't connect to Command Center?

    I have a 4501 that can't connect to command center. I've unplugged from network and direct connect to my laptop. I can ping it, but it won't connect. Tried different browsers too.

    Somebody set up SMTP settings, now I can't go in to change them. Is it possible they disabled something?

    Short of fw update and factory reset, I'm out of ideas.. Anyone see this before?

    It's destructive ... but a U021 will wipe out any network settings, and a lot of machine settings. I think first, I might try the following PreScribe commands:
    !R! ACNT "EGRE";EXIT;

    or
    !R! ACNT "REST";EXIT;

    That should just reset the printer NIC. =^..^=
    If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      Re: CS4501i can't connect to Command Center?

      When you try to pull up the command center, is there anything displayed at all? or just a browser message saying it couldn't connect?

      I've come across a problem several times where the command center will only partially load on any browser (chrome, firefox, IE) of a certain PC. For example, you will see only the top portion of the page, or just a blank page. Sometimes the command center will load fine until you go into a certain tab that it just refuses to display.

      The fix for me in this situation is always to go to another PC. I've never tried clearing any cache, cookies, etc.. when this has happened because it's always been on the customer's PC. Have seen this with multiple models (250ci series, 2550ci series, and 3050ci series so far)

        Just a browser message saying can't connect. I tried different PCs, that's why I used my laptop. Doing so I bypass their networks and computers. I've never had this problem on any box.

        Blackcat, I'm not familiar with the prescribe. I think I vaguely remember seeing it once. Please enlighten me?

          Re: CS4501i can't connect to Command Center?

          PreScribe is the native language of Kyocera printers and MFP's.

          There are lots of ways to send a PreScribe command, but I'll keep this simple:
          1) Type or copy/paste the desired command into a Notepad or Textpad file (.txt or .prn file extension).
          2) Download LPR Jar: http://gccprinters.com/support/doc/lprutil.html
          3) Save your command files and LPR jar to a USB stick.
          4) Insert the USB stick to any PC on the network with the printer.
          5) Open LPR jar, browse to command file, enter destination IP address, Send.

          It's that easy. =^..^=

              Make sure that SSL is turned ON (on the MFP), or you can turn HTTP on. It would probably be easier to do this from your laptop since you are able to web into the machine. We have seen this a few times on these machines as well. By default, HTTP is off, so when you web into the machine it uses HTTPS which means that SSL has to be on as well as HTTPS. If anyone turns these off or if something on the customer's network is blocking HTTPS then you get locked out.

                To update on this, its been fixed a week ago.. The SSL was off in the mfp. I enabled it and it worked after that, although with broken certificate message in browser. Thanks for all of the suggestions.
