[Misc] kyocera km2560 - marks on prints and copiesHi, I have a Kyocera km2560 which is putt

    Hi

I have a Kyocera km2560 that is putting weird marks on print and copies (see attached)
The marks are never in the same place and seem to appear completely at random.
I have tried a new charge and drum unit, all connection seem to to be okay and firmware is up to date.
    Any help appreciated, thanks.

Check the fuser. It might have some gunk on it.

If it's repetitive at 95.5mm it's the drum

If it's repetitive at 120mm it's the fuser

If it's truly not repetitive, it's probably primary charge. It's very common to to have the primary charge start to arc at the the rear frame contact or at the grid. Replace the primary charge. Carefully bend out the rear frame contact and use a diamond file to file off any burn marks, so that it makes good contact. As confirmation print off the event log. You may see CF040 errors stored, as a result of primary charge arcing.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks for getting back so quickly.

The marks are not repetitive at all, and fuser is perfectly clean. Tried the charge and made no difference but I will check the rear frame connection again. And I shall check for that code too. Thanks.

It still looks like charge arcing. Drum unit is next.

Some of the old timers may remember whole pages of back ovals from an arcing charge unit. And it's not repetitive. Charge arcing is truly random. =^..^=

Thought it was arcing too, replaced the drum and problem persisted. In the end the dev unit was the part causing it. Although it looked perfect and only had done 100k.

                Thanks for posting back.

I had a Stratos recently, that the assigned tech just shut off the maintenance light and walked. At 319K we started to get severe mottling. I could clean the mag roller and it was good for 500 to 1000 prints before the mottling came back.

First visit cleaned mottling, checked that it was OEM toner, then walked.
Second visit cleaned mottling, discovered total lack of maintenance, then ordered kit.
Third visit replaced kit. The developing unit was done at 319K.

Better late than never, thanks for the followup because other then the non-repetitive nature of the problem they look just like fuser marks from a shitty fuser.
