    520i Jamming

Random jam codes, most common j52 and 81 and 84... customer said they couldn't get more than 3-4 pages without jamming... initial testing ran over 900 thru all three drawers in all three trays on finisher, single and duplexed... no jams... by default prints go tray A, faxes to tray B and copy to tray C, nothing to internal tray or job sep tray..

when I finally did see it jam and got the varied codes, had five jams in a row, all from inbound faxes... checked sensors and solenoids, all seem to be ok... do have parts on order for an intermittent noise in the drum drive section, but don't think that it could be causing the jams, could I be wrong there??

    This might help you:

Jams J52, J81 from tray #2, first copy/print of the day. Either upper vertical clutch FCL1 or duplex clutch DUPFCL are shimmed too tightly. Clean upper vertical clutch and duplex clutch. Adjust shims so that the gear side of the clutch can spin free when not actuated. Also check for free movement of the feedshift guide on the outer door.

This particular problem was particularly intermittent. It was the 5th or 6th visit I got some resolution. I had arrived at 6:00am when the office first opens, and I had the manager unplug the copier the night before, so I would get the first pages of the day. Those clutches had been on backorder forever, that's why it didn't replace them outright. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
