Please someone tell me what I am missing. I have setup the smtp server settings, but when I try to scan to email, I enter the destination and hit start but the machine just beeps and says to hit start to send.
So you enter a destination and on screen you should see Ready to Send and there is no green light on the start button and if you do press start it doesn't even scan the document or try to send or give a send error code?

its actually a 255c and I have discovered that I cant send anything from the send screen. Not a scan to email, scan to file, or even a fax. It just beeps. Any ideas?

No error or anything, it says press start to send. You press start and it just beeps. It never pulls the document through the adf or scans it off the glass. If you dont have a doc loaded on the glass or in the adf it asks you to set a size and then just beeps after you do that.
Hmmm...that is an odd sounding issue...I'd start by pulling the fax and loading firmware and see if you can scan to file/email, re install fax, reload firmware, and then go from there...

i also faced this problem but i check the machine date and time .may be the machine date and time wrong .you check the date and time
I do remember an issue with the bad main pwb copying the black pages that with one level of FW it would still let you print and receive faxes but if you updated it you got a service code and couldn't do anything with it at all until you replaced the main pwb so I wouldn't be surprised if it was a firmware issue....
Edit: Now that I think aobut it I do recall that if you did replace the main pwb for the black page issue and did not update the FW on it you couldn't send/fax at all..so yeah....update the firmware..
