    Copystar CS3060 CQ

Copystar CS3060.pdfI have actually corrected the issue, but have a question. First of all I don't have much experience with Copystar. Attached is a sample of what it was doing. I put a PM kit in and that fixed it. What actually causes this?

yeah if you see hash lines that look alot like the grid on a charge unit that would normally be your problem.

Thanks everyone. Would you normally replace the whole charge unit? Or maybe just the wire and/or grid?

the whole charge unit...I usually keep a few I've snagged from old drums in my van for emergencies to get by...

I've typically been unsatisfied with the results after re-stringing these primary charge units. The black ovals are primary charge arcing to the drum the "comb" shapes are caused by the grid, like Kidaver says. You can replace the primary charge unit alone, but it's a good idea to have the drum unit assembly on-hand. The drum can be damaged by the arcing, and you won't know until the primary is in place. The drum unit comes with a primary charge unit.

A common problem with the Stratos is when you get a customer that actually reads the instructions that come with the toner. Those instructions tell you to use a small pad (provided) to clean the grid, and most times the enduser does not get the primary installed properly. If the front of the primary is too far from the drum, the copies will be darker towards the front.

When I get one of these calls for dark copies, I ask "did you recently change the toner, or waste bottle?" I usually discourage endusers from cleaning the primary/grid, since most of the time they cannot get it properly re-installed. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
            5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
