Need a little guidance on scanning. I have a FS-1128MFP at the house. It is connected with Ethernet to my wireless router. I have a PC connected the same way. I have laptop that connects wireless to the same router. What I am trying to do is set up scanning to both the PC and the laptop. I'm new to Kyocera. With the brand I'm used to, all I do is load a utility on the PC and I'm done. Takes a few seconds and I can scan to any PC. I have scanned on other manufacturer's with no issue. Why does it have to be so difficult with Kyocera. Any way, I need help. Very frustrated. Looked in service manual, user manual, and KDA, and found nothing. Again, I need to scan to more than one computer. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Scanning to FS-1128MFP
Thanks tmaged. I have this document. I cannot share a folder on my PC. I have Vista. I have goggled it and tried several ways I have found and none will do it. I am done with this tonight. Its best I walk away for now. Very frustrated with Kyocera. Need a fresh start. I need to make it work on the PC, then go to the laptop which has Windows 7.Comment

Re: Scanning to FS-1128MFP
It's not really Kyocera's issue. My guess is you're running home ? Can't remember but Vista may only do file sharing in Professional.
SMB is a protocol that should allow scanning without any software. All manufacturers support it.Comment

Re: Scanning to FS-1128MFP
I haven't used Vista in awhile but I believe there may be shared folders already setup somewhere in the user file folders. If you can't figure out how to share out new folders, you could put the folder you want to scan to in the shared folder that's already there and you should be good. I had to do that awhile back on an XP system before I figured out how to setup sharing on XP.Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

Also make sure the user account you're using to authenticate to your PC has a password associated with it. sometimes it works without a password on Vista, most of the time it doesn't. On windows 7,8,8.1 I haven't come across a PC yet (home,pro,64bit,32bit) that was able to authenticate without a password.
I've set up a number of vista PCs to scan using SMB and have been successful. They do use weird terminology in the permissions though. I believe when you share a folder and go into the permissions, you have to make sure whichever username you're using to authenticate is the "Owner" or "Co-Owner" of the folder to be able to send files to it.Comment
