    Re: Utax machines

At least some of the Utax line is re-badged Kyocera. The earlier black & whites were solid. The earlier color machines were parts hungry and high maintenance, but some machines actually did the whole maintenance cycle. The recent lines of tabletop color MFP's are worth avoiding altogether. The more recent Alphard series machines still have plenty of bugs to work out. but are improving. At least they don't overtone. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Line up of the Kyocera rebadges: Utax, Olivetti, Copystar, Ikon ... back in the Mita days: Gestetner, Lanier, Monroe, Copystar. =^..^=

          Re: Utax machines

Some of the very old boxes may have been other manufacturers but it's pretty much all Kyocera now.

I wouldn't have enough experience with Ricoh to do a direct comparison but we have been a Utax dealer for years and apart from a few gripes are quite pleased.

The black and white machines have always been pretty solid including the desktop printers and MFP's, A3 colour machines have improved greatly. I'd agree with Blackcat on the A4 colour, it's definitely the weakest part of the product range. I have to admit that we haven't had the problems I know some have had in the trade have had but that's probably more down to volume of machines we have out.

ApeosMan - Utax have been tirelessly trying to improve their brand awareness over the last few years... great to see that it's working lol.

            Re: Utax machines

We switched from ricoh to utax 5 years ago , and it has worked out well for us. One thing to note is , they hate generic toner.Especially the colour range.
If company insist on using it, make sure you carry devs and fusers in your car stock . also feed rollers dont last. We use konica uni rollers which fit most of the high volume range, 5555i etc.
