I have been asked if there is a way to make the name of the scan document be a date instead of the really long chain of numbers. I have search the manuals and found nothing. My guess is no. The tech support is closed today, so I thought I would post and ask.

Re: 6551ci scan name
Under scanner defaults you can set the file name to be a time/date stamp. If the file was simply the date, you would have duplicate filename issues when scanning to the same folder. The time stamp ensures a new name each time you scan.
By default it is set to "Doc" + Time/Date + Job Number
Turn off Job Number and remove the Doc from the text entry line. This is in Common Settings -> Function Defaults -> File Name -
Re: 6551ci scan name
darry is right of course. That long string is numbers is year/month/day/hour/minute/second. Take a closer look. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
