    Dev Refresh Qusetion

    Model: TA250ci
    Question;
I was going to do a DV Refresh but am a little skittish.
Will doing this throw off my auto toner sensor settings.
I know on some other makes doing this will screw up TD settings royally and
a DV change will only correct it.
So being the cautious Tech (LOL) that I am I thought someone might lead me in the right direction.
    Many Thanks..................

It will not throw off your toner sensor. On this model when a have a dev unit issue, the first thing i will do is pull the dev units out, close the cap, and turn them on their side and smack the bottom of them to lossen up the toner below the augers.

Why are you going to do a developer refresh? What problem are you having? You might want to try "Auto Gray Adjustment" in the system menu. Or "Color Calibration". Those modes won't force more toner into the developer units.

Issue is that box keeps adding K toner.
Had to change toner sensor to manual @ 35 (116 is default) in order for it to function.
Of course color cal is way off.
I suppose a developer change is in store now.
This machine was working aces until customer installed a new K toner.
        Any suggestions?

            If:

... you have any of the developers already overtoning, and you run developer refresh several times, it with overtone even more.
... you have undertoning, developer refresh can help restore your toner density. Especially in those situations where your enduser is doing 10K black to 500 color.

It will not change color calibration, only toner density in the developer, but it's a good idea to do a color calibration after a successful developer refresh. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
            5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Good to hear from you and again thanks for your knowledge.
I'm at my wits end with this blk toner issue. Machine just keeps adding K toner, pushing it out into collector bottle. I've changed U131 to manual and set k to 35. all colors are at 116 (default). This setting at least has unit running. Black prints are not overtoned and look super but color is out of town which I assume is due to K dev/toner issue? IE. Red Tulip is now yellow.
Like I had mentioned customer put a new K toner in and bang, just kept asking for toner.
Oh btw toner is OEM but I did see a unknown toner flash on display at one time or another.

It sounds like you need K developer, on this model it's a unit. This is probably related to your other post about 250ci. Yes, you've got a good plan. And it probably is overtoning if it's stuffing the waste bottle full. =^..^=

I agree with blackcat. Usually when I see this, I check U155 and the corresponding color's value is usually way higher than the target value of ~500. This problem also corresponds to service calls of "I've replaced the XXXXXX toner, but it's still asking for it!". Replacing the developer unit fixes these problems.
