    TaskAlfa 300ci

Posting this 1st before trying anything on the machine since im really short of time these days. The problem i have is this:

    pr1.jpgpr2.jpg

Happens randomly, sometimes left side, middle or right side is void. I'm thinking to start with transfer belt, than move to laser and high voltage. If anyone has exact tip it would save me a lot of time which i really don't have atm.

Is it only black? Replace the black dev unit.

Looking at the samples....It looks like a bias\ developer issue. I would clean the units first to eliminate arcing.
      Good luck
The product may be brilliant and the salesperson proficient, but if the technician isn’t efficient, then the story will end there.

Had an issue similar to this, but I was running 11 X 17 and having all 4 colors missing in places but never the same place in the prints. The LSU cleaning solenoid was bad. I hope that is not your issue, it took me about 5 hours to replace.

Zackuth is correct, the LSU cleaning blades are cycling back and forth blocking the laser to drum path and causing the void. It is not fun to get to. It would be easier to remove the cleaning system from the LSU, but then you would have to clean the LSU manually.

If it's only black, I'd start with black developing, or black developing motor, maybe HVT. From your samples I don't see it affecting the other colors. =^..^=

More than one page, usually, needs to be run. With only one color page, I couldn't tell. That's why I suggested ledger paper. One or two sheets of ledger and you will see the colors drop out and come back in if the laser cleaning solenoid is failing.

Thanks for all the input guys.

Its not just on black, as you can see on second image i posted, only yellow is seen where the toner gauges are. Black drum and developer are replaced couple of months ago due to some other issues, so they are fine. I replaced transfer belt and so far so good, but will have to wait for few more days to be sure. The machine is 2009 model and had 1st edition transfer belt which looks so different to the one i installed. I hope i won't have to deal with laser section, cause it takes ages on these models.

I'm hoping you've got the firmware at version 13. There are a lot of improvements in the last two or three versions. =^..^=

There was a TI on this very similar issue quite a while ago, I'd be looking at the developer drive motors. It's a common issue on the saturn series where the motors fail without bringing up an error code, they have since been modified.

The Dev/Cln motors and the toner drive motor are all the in the same boat when it comes to random failures.

Take the back off the machine and watch the smaller motors behind the drum drive motors, you may see them simply stop.

Unfortunately, the problem has returned after about a month, despite the new transfer belt. Time to deal with laser cleaning solenoid now. Will update.
