    FS-4200 Printing Issue

I have an FS-4200 out on demo with an extra gig of memory in it. My customer wanted to run it through their monthly billing to see if they wanted it. So following up they said they had an issue. The print job is 1400 pages, and around page 900, the job stopped, and restarted from the beginning. After canceling the job, she tried to print from 900 to 1400 and it would keep stopping every 60 pages and do nothing. so every 60 pages she'd have to cancel the job, tell it to print from the last one it did to the 1400.

She said there was no issues at all the first 900 sheets.

Im going to reinstall the drivers as a first step, but does anyone know of any additional reasons that would happen? I did a firmware update on it before taking it and I know the conversation was going on about bad firmware so I dont know if thats an issue. If so how do you roll back firmware? never done it before.

her document has an issue. any other printer to test on?

This 1400pages file, is it from a proprietary software?

      is it PC, MAC?

What is the printer driver on their workstation.

PC, and it is directly added via "add print driver" method on windows.

She had an FS-3920 that she had no issues with before. And I think so, its a water utility company.

2nd Edit: I take that back, she has issues with the FS-3920, but no issues printing the job.

What's the memory count within the print driver? Assuming its recent Kx v6.1## it should be under device settings.

but I'd like to think its not the machine that causing the issue. because the problem is #900pages and up

I have seen similar problems when some of our customers were printing from their web-page based programs .
( Sometimes on this kind of slow [ or stop print ] - we have also seen the dreaded F248's show up )
When we saw this , the FRIMWAR corrected their problems : but , you said you had already installed the latest FW .

            Have they had a software up-date ?
Have you checked to be sure the driver and the 4200 emulation settings are the same ?

Just out of curiosity take a look at the spooling options. I'm thinking you'll want to de-select "Spool whole job before printing." Perhaps this is a situation for the optional HDD.

Also look at the host buffer:
Web into the printer web page. In FRPO Parameters, I/F Independent, set H8 to 64 or more, Submit, set S5 to 2 (1MB increments), Submit, set M6 to 10 (network printing memory to max), Submit. (Only submit one change at a time.) =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
              5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I installed KX 6.1(and put it on KPDL instead of PCL XL), Changed the available ram from 400 to 512, and then Selected "Print directly to printer" in the spooling options. I looked through the menu on the command center settings, and couldnt find those adjustments you were suggesting.

All it well however, because one of those things has resolved our issue.
