KM-4050 rejects installation of a document feeder!!!!

    Hie guys,

    I have a Km 4050 that I recently installed a DP-700 document feeder.
The funny thing is when you put papers on the DP, there is a massage on the touch panel "Please wait, adjusting scanner"
then it would stay like that without ever getting ready for copying.
On the glass it works fine. When you use a web page to access the machine it shows that the DP is installed.
When I run simulation u411 for scanner auto adjustment, under input I get an error 04 (This simulation gives me an error whether the DP is connected or disconnected).
When you restart the machine with papers on the DP it will detect them and prompt you to remove, but when you remove and put them back it goes back to please wait.
What could be the issue with the machine?
I even tried to upgrade firmware, ran simulation 020, 906 but still stuck!!!!!

Simple. The top door is not completely latched. Most likely your enduser has been slamming the top cover or pryed the cover open without using the latch, and broke off the rear post that the cover latches to. See here:

"Adjusting Scanner" message, whenever originals are placed in the DP-700 document processor and Start pressed. Message does not clear. Top cover of document processor has been forceably opened, damaging the rear hook and interlock switch holder. Replace rear hook (303JX07180) and interlock switch holder (303JX02240).

    =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thankyou Black cat...the top cover had issues as the rear post was broken. I got that fixed and the machine is happy and running. I really appreciated your help.
