    Noise coming from TA5500i

    Hello

Have a client that has issue with occasional long going whistling noise coming from machine. I've been there couple of times but no noise as it usually happens .
Previously they had issue with reg roller holder being snapped at chassis so replaced the whole door with new transfer belt put in and at the same time have changed Fuser as it looked worn. This was a couple of months back so I am not expecting it to be, although I might be wrong this time. Either way the machine was close to PM and I had suspicion of the drum blade or dev packing and making noise, so did the PM (DRUM+DEV+BELT+FILTERS, cleaned the ducts and filters, dust remover, laser window, Transfer belt area, registration area. Still no noise. Since it was 3 visit and no noise I asked if they could make a video recording when the sound presents it self. Here we go

My suspicion is fuser, BUT if someone came across this sound or have slight idea drop me a line please. Thanks.

It sounds to me like a dry/poorly lubricated drum blade, setting up a sympathetic vibration in the cleaning unit. It could also be the primary transfer belt cleaning blade. You might try priming the cleaning blades, or perhaps running a few sky shots.

I should qualify this by saying, I had a similar situation to this in which the enduser insisted that it was making the noise now, but I could not hear it at all. I have lost some of the high pitched hearing range while working at the machine shop in my youth. I was forced to defer to a younger tech, who could hear the noise. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Have you tried maintenance mode 30(motors) to isolate which section the noise is coming from?

If you're ever able to replicate the noise on-site, have a look into taking a junction wire (we call it an umbilical cord) to cheat the conveyance door. It's helped me identify a few different abnormal noises.

            See General Tech Bulletin #91.

              Thanls Wragsdale.
Been there just now with only 20min parking limit. No noise on arrival. Run 030 for the lot again no noise differentiation. Popped in fuser from a workshop machine which I tested with 1000 duplex prints and see whether it comes back ot not..
My suspicion is fuser bearing holder being twisted.

Been there today. No noise. Just fixed ADF issue but nothing else on machine. So fuser it must have been, just funny it didn't make a squeak in the workshop.
