[Jamming] Kyocera FS-4020DN "Size Error A4 Cassette"

    Hi all

Can anyone help with this error message?

The printer will show "Size Error A4 Cassette" either when you are just printing a single sheet out, or sometimes it will happen in the middle of a run.

Every time the page is jammed as shown below.

    FS4020_Jam_Location.jpg

In the event log we have 122 x J10 jams and 222 x J20 jams. The most recent jams are all J20's.

In fairness there is over 1 million pages on the printer.

I have seen another post here about replacing the registration roller actuator and spring once the count gets high.

Has anyone else experienced this issue and did replacing those parts fix it?

    Thanks

    J

I had the same problems with the same printer, and this one had like 1,3 mil counter. Eventually I ended up replacing entire right side feed assembly, but it didn't help. Only things i was left to try were engine and main pwb, but i recommended a new machine to my client which he accepted. Basically shit hits the fan after a mil.

i have repaird tons of these machines with high volume and they are real workhorses, but like an old car,if you want it to go futher you have to to a complete teardown and overhaul which is not much really. The engine sits just below the dev where toner gets in and could cause mainly light prints. you have to clean and inspect all the rollers. reg, feed and exit rollers. i would replace the reg spring and actuator as mentioned,.... these machines can take a beating.
Also what have you done if you are getting jams, Nothing, i hope not if you are posting.

forgot to ask A4, what size of paper are you using. if it is letter, then check tray switch selector and switch assy.

Just an update on this call. As subaro suggested it was indeed the registration actuator, it had just worn down with the amount of paper that had passed it. Brought the machine in, gave it an overhaul, maintenance kit (this was also due) and its running superbly again..

        Here's a comparison of the 2 actuators.

You can see the one on the right is a clear 1.5mm shorter.

In my case, I haven't tried that. Thx for the tip, will give it a go on next one.

I have the same problem on FS-3920 with the same reason - registration actuator was passed by paper.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
              5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Well D Colour, thank you for your words of compliments, but we all deserve it as this is what the forum is about. I actually had one in the shop about three weeks ago and the road techs replaced quite a bit of parts trying to figure what was the problem. but in this case the error would be intermittent. the machine would jam onece or twice and display " incorrect size". I replace the actuator and here is the pic similar to D Colour

Do you guys have a manual to remove the actuator? It seems like it's going to be a pain in the ass to get to...

If I'm not mistaken, the registration sensor and actuator can be accessed by removing the engine pwb from the bottom of the machine. Instructions for that should be in the SM.
