    CS-4551 ci default fax tray

Good morning all, I have done a quick search online and on this forum to no avail,...
I have a CS-4551ci with fax card. I am running this device on my Windows print server with the fax driver.
Incoming faxes are defaulting to tray 1 on this machine, tray 1 for this location is set to letter/letterhead. Incoming faxes are causing the machine to lockup until letter/plain paper is set on tray 1. I cannot find anyway to change the default drawer for incoming faxing.

I have 4 drawers in this machine
I have tray 4 set to default for all jobs

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

wow, ok... Ya sorry I didn't specify I have looked through all the manuals.

So, I figured it out with some playing. At least one drawer has to be set to auto paper size and plan paper. Our tray 3 and 4 are 1500 capacity and were set with letter and plain, this was forcing the job to tray 1 even though tray 1 was letter and letterhead. The manual states how to paper but didn't state it MUST be auto size. Thanks for the help..

Yes, at least one tray must be set to auto size detect, preferably all of them

When printing facsimile Kyocera machines use a priority list starting with the size that most closely matches, then switching to the one that next most closely matches, etc.

It's sort of ass-backwards, but the best way to specify a fax tray on most Kyocera MFP's is to select a specific media type (say ... Custom1), then specify that all facsimile must print onto Custom1). When it runs out of fax-specific paper the machine will ask you to load paper rather than switching to a paper that doesn't really match size-wise.

I don't think you'll find any of this information grouped together in any one manual. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
