    CS 400ci washed out/faded prints & copies.

    Howdy, first time poster here.

I've got two CS 400ci machines, one extra parts unit around the shop and another that I'm repairing for a customer. The customer machine was having image quality issues, so I replaced the black developer unit and drum and it fixed it. After awhile, the copier began printing blank copies and prints. Brought it to the shop, swapped out every developer and drum kit with new ones, then moved on to swap out the fuser, transfer belt, and rollers with new ones. Still no luck. Ended up swapping out the main PWB and engine PWB with the extra unit I have. Prints came back, but they are very poor, as shown below. I've ran every maintenance mode adjustment I can think of, and of course drum and developer refreshes. Tried swapping between old, new and used parts (fuser, transfer belt, etc.). Still no luck.

I'm still somewhat new to Kyocera and copier work in general, as I come from a basic IT background, so any help would be appreciated, even if it's obvious stuff I could have easily forgotten/wasn't aware of.

I don't work on these, so if the lasers are part of the items you have replaced so far, please ignore the rest of this post.
Still, a rule that applies to all printers that use lasers is that "No laser = no image". That also applies in a fashion to LED printers as well. Try to find the places where the laser or LED light comes through to expose the drum and see if they are clean. Based on your picture, I'd start with the yellow and cyan units.

Does "I've ran every maintenance mode adjustment I can think of, and of course drum and developer refreshes." include a color calibration? That's a really important element to your maintenance. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I would first try with another laser unit, or cleaning the one inside, but it looks to me that you need new style developer and cleaning motors.

the voids almost looks like second transfer roller. You said you swapped the transfer belt, and rollers. Does this mean you tried the second transfer roller? The one that's just above the registration roller on the jam removal door that swings down?

As for the black being consistently faded, probably an old style dev as kyo fan suggested.
