We have a few out in the field that are started to develop a habit of spitting out this error code. I understand the language of the situation (communication problem between boards / energy saver). My question is can this be caused by a bad fuser, like the CF40 errors on 3140's for example? Or is this something maybe relative to customer environment? I have two in a prosecutor office that keep spitting the code out, and just the other day, both Finisher Tray A's and Cassette 1 had failed (at the same time)

I would say, stop turning the main power switch off, without pressing the power button on the control panel first.
OR
They could be experiencing a bunch of power outages or brownouts. -
Re: CF278 on 420/520i's
You're enduser could be causing these codes for you. If the enduser flips off the power at the main switch before powering down at the panel, then you can get that code. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
