    Copystar CS-3035

I was initially called out to this copier for misfeeding from the bypass tray. The customer was using 11x17 paper in the bypass tray. It has a J40 error code and was the predominant J-code on the machine. Is that before paper goes into the fuser, or does it matter? Also, there were several other error codes that the machine had since the last call 3 months ago. I never received a call from the customer about this codes. There were three error codes, but I can only remember two. The two I remember were a C0440, and C0640. There were multiple C0440 codes. The copies were no longer exiting into the copier, but out onto the finisher tray, and sorting was not being performed. A lot of stuff seemed to go on with it, but does any of this explain why it was misfeeding in the bypass tray? I made over 100 copies using letter LEF and had no misfeeds through it. If none of what I wrote is the cause of the issue, could the paper be the problem? Thank you for any help given.

What does your exit assembly look like? Have you cleaned the oneway for the exit assembly shaft

It sounds to me like you have two basic problems:

      1) The finisher is not communicating with the copier (C0440), and misfeed in the fuser from the bypass (J40 because the finisher won"t take the paper ... because it's not communicating).

You might have a problem with the pigtail, or the finisher controller, or the engine PWB (in that order).

      2) The HDD is dying (C0640).

      Replace the HDD.

I would see this as a great opportunity to call in the sales department. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
