MFX 2550 weird doc feed problem

Have a 2559 with a weird problem with the doc feed jams. If the feeder jams the machine has to be turn off then on to clear the jam indicator. I have upgraded the firmware. And have cleaned all sensors. No sticking sensor flags that I can find. Plus the weird thing is I can deliberaetly put a scrape of paper in the doc feeder on a sensor and it will show a jam. Open the cover remove the paper and then open the 0oc feder to full upright and close it back onto the glass. The jam indicator clears. Any ideas on where to start next.

Check the ADF Hinges (left) if they break, they jam. We are a dealer with about 100 of these out there.
