I don't usually have to do much with Lex document feeders. Usually it's rollers or a few drops of orange cleaner. Sometimes the media sensor gets dusty (843.99). This one was different.

The weird thing is that the code occasionally clears and runs. The 294.00 code points to the exit sensor, and I was pretty confident when I saw the pile of dust on the receiver:

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

There's a mirrored surface right above that sensor that needs to be cleaned. Well, I mean if that error is shown in a small font on an otherwise blank touch screen if I remember correctly. The mirror is on the bottom of the duplex jam access door.
I've seen that three times so far, so I know that sensor well (although it was a head scratcher the first two times). My machine is at a quarry though, so this is something that probably won't trouble you often.

Lexmark using that sensor setup in all the adf's now. A plus is there is no flag for the customer to snap but downside is it is quite susceptible to any dust.

I have a bunch of these at a military installation. That sensor has gone out on about 15 of my units. It must be common because they are always on B/O. Also, the scanner belts are notorious for breaking.
