    Kip700m cannot read roll 1

    Hi Everyone,

I checked out the kip700m machine today and observed the machine not detecting the roll 1 media. I checked paper roll media size and type and is all correct. I switched of machine then switched on but still the same.

I removed the roll and reinserted the media correctly into the feed area. The sensor detects paper roll and pulls it in to have it set for printing but when I close the roll 1 cover the message still apperas, I tried doing a print, the machine pulls the roll some centre meters and displays Roll 1 out of media / paper.
The machine does not display any jams.

I then removed the feed sensor plus the other sensor right after the feed roller cleaned and refitted, did a test but still message persists. I also did the feed clutch and registration clutch test and all is ok. Continued on to checking other clutches and motors in the service mode and all is good.

I am still working around to get the machine fixed and ask if anyone can provide any ideas to how I can fix this fault will be much appreciated.

    Thank you

I don't have a solution for you but will be interested in hearing any comments. I spent several hours with this same situation. I got "handled" by Kip, and I never did hear how it was resolved. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Check the roll set sensor. It is the first sensor actuated by the paper and it is before the first set of feed rollers. You can try switching it with a jam sensor if they are the same. It will indicate a jam if it is bad. You can also check it in the service mode. It should read "H" if it detects paper.

Roll set sensor and paper feed encoder sensors checked, rollset sensor reads H when detects paper roll. I have also changed the encoder sensor with a working one and still the same. All paper feed clutches ested ok.

Try reseating the connectors on the DC controller. Open the rear door of the machine if it does not indicate a door open you could have a bad DC controller. You can also try restoring the IPS from the DVD.

Tried opening all doors, the display shows that a door is open every time a door is opened. I removed the electrical controller board cleaned dust and refitted, reboot machine but still the same. I have noticed the Port 10 message "Port 10 open fail" the message pops up intermittently, could be the electrical control board.

IPS software has been restored 2 times one on its original HDD and the 2nd time on another HDD.
