I assume you have read the manual:

C-6704* When scanning an image, compression
    process from scanner
    to memory is not completed
    within the specified time. Evolution
    from scanner to page memory
    is not completed within the
    specified time. SVV is not
    detected within the specified
    time.
    Image processing board
    (IPB)
    I/F board (IFB)
    Image memory control board
    (IMCB)
    Overall control board (OACB

I would suggest a firmware re-load/upgrade. A have a look at "Compression mode" for the scanner. On or off?

      C6501 Error Code C6704

Now have three machines with this code. Any print job including internal test prints causes the code to appear.

One machine each at firmware 40, 50 and 60. Upgrade apparently has no effect.

Board Replacements include IP and Memory Control, am trying IF and OACB on one machine today - will post the results.

S V V signal or process is not mentioned by that name anywhere but in the Service Manual error list. Is this function a clue to what is going on?

            c-6704

dljorg sent me a reply that the cero copier interface board caused the problem on 3 of his machines. I am going to try and get a new board. If anyone has a spare for sale let me know EFI p/n 45053205. Not sure about the ref in IC303 part book. I am pretty sure it is the ref #10 . Nationwide has them for about $400.

Creo is not an efi machine that I am aware of. Also re-seat the boards on the back and clean the connectors also. I had two machines that during moving and setup these came loose and caused this same issue. It still could be the interface pwb for the creo but I would try re-seating boards as that is cheaper.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

I have a Cero80 (ikon c650 ikon power pro) believe it is IC303 (black case tower). You are right it is not EFI.
Yes you are right to clean it out and reseat the boards. Will reseat the machine boards and do a dusting and cleaning on the creo. Thank you for the information.

                  Re: C6500

                  Hello,

I'm getting c-6704 on a C5501 when trying to send test prints from a Fiery IC-408.
All internal prints from the engine and copies from scanner work fine.
The engine is very dusty and dirty as is the IC, so I'm going to try to clean the boards and re check all connectors and see if that works.
