Risograph GR1700 info & experience please

I'm wondering if this model is any good, and if it is really old, or is it a good machine. I'm only somewhat knowledgeable with the Ricoh duplicators. I don't know if all duplicators are pretty much the same as far as switching drums and ink color. Also is this machine pretty good with NCR paper and envelopes? Any info would be well appreciated. Thanks!

Yes it's an older model. The machine is in obsolescence, but it was a pretty reliable unit IMO.

The duplicators I've worked on are all the same in the processes, the same as copiers are the same. You could get different drums for different colors.

We used to run our paper service orders on a GR, so we had good luck with NCR. Not sure on the envelopes, but most of the time with special media you may have to shop around to find one that works.
the savin2535 is displaying well bet the hiter lamp is not shining and the lamp had been tested o.k.please kindly help.
Samir: No, not again. I... why does it say paper jam when there is no paper jam? I swear to God, one of these days, I just kick this piece of shit out the window.
Michael Bolton: You and me both, man. That thing is lucky I'm not armed.

      Risograph

      Hi
That particular model is around 15years old, was a really good machine. It feeds pretty much anything, but it can be tempramental sometimes with envelopes. You have to try it to see if it will feed what you have.

          GR-1700

Properly adjusted the GR-1700 will run both types of paper. You can pretty much know what good parts are in your Riso by taking into account the number of copies that are on the machine. Most major parts on this machine were rated for 3 million impressions. The major hang up will be with the rubber parts. As we all know over time rubber tends to harden, and with this being an older Riso there is the chace that the rubber on the pressure roller, timing roller, and the drum support rollers has hardened. You can clean the rollers in the paper feed with a rubber rejuvenator with some success. If the drum support rollers have harded they will begin to erode away and go bad. You will know when this happens, because when you run your machine you will get a thumping noise. Keep in mind the two type of paper that you are wishing to run are at the two extremes. NCR thin and tends to stick together with the chemicals that are on it (which is hard to seperate) and envelopes that are thick and are basically a piece of paper folder three times (which is hard to pick up). But like previously stated if you have a tech adjust this machine properly you should be able to run both stocks with limited problems.
