    Okidata C5510mfp

Well here's an opportunity for someone to help me. We were emailed a sample (I have attached it) and asked what the problem could be. I am not familiar with Oki machines (other than the few monochrome faxes I've seen in the field a many, many moons ago). We have a service manual that says it is for the mfp, but there is no information at all about image defects when copying (which I assume is when this problem is occuring). I am requesting additional information from the field tech to fill in some details. This is what he told us:

    Oki 5510

    Scanner light stays on
Did a cold reset. same image defect
    See samples

If anyone knows something that may help, please reply. I will post any additional info I receive. From the samples the one with OKI in green is supposed to be correct. The one in orange is not.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".

The cyan and magenta drum/toner unit have been switched. This machine can't detect if the drum/toner units are placed correctly. The colors should read : Cyan Magenta Yellow Black Red Green Blue. This applies for all Oki printers.

LOL, I did not know that about Oki printers. Nice to learn something new. Thanks Eric. I let him know.

I came to the same conclusion, just too late. Sorry. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

A few years ago I drove 150 miles to a customer for this "defect"! So I will never forget this!
