    CLX-3175FN has me stumped

Alright, so my problem is that if I try printing something that's pure monochrome, it'll print out just fine. I've tried switching drivers, I've tried making copies on it, and so forth and so on. I should mention also that it's a Samsung CLX-3175FN

If I tell my PC to print something in monochrome that was scanned in color (say, from a PDF), it will print it out, very lightly, in cyan.

If I print out a picture, it'll normally be missing a color. In today's case, it happened to be cyan. It has been magenta, and yellow, and black before too.

Here's where it gets just a little bit weirder yet; if I print the Samsung test page (the one with all the boxes of toner sitting around), everything comes out fine.

I am honestly stumped and very near the verge of just going with something different, but seeing as how I have CMY toner cartridges sitting around, I don't really want to do that.

Any help, or ideas, anything at all would be much appreciated. If anyone has any questions, let me know and I'll try to answer them quickly.

    ... I've tried switching drivers,...
Did you completely delete the old driver, then install a fresh download of the driver?

... I've tried making copies on it, ...
And the full color copies come out right?

Have you tried to print a color .bmp file from the USB drive port? What effect? If the images are missing a color from the USB drive port, I would replace the Main PWB. If the images are correct from the USB drive port, I would still lean towards a driver issue.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

For the driver issue, that's what I did. Now, as for the copies, they didn't come out right.

I just tried printing from the USB port (good idea, I had not thought of that), and they were closer to the images I had than I had seen in quite awhile, but not quite there. I'll also mention that I printed a test sheet of sorts with pure magenta, cyan, yellow, and black, and tried it from both the USB port and from the PC and those came out just fine.

If it's affecting the copies & prints & USB memory port, you're back to the Main PWB.

I have saved a few Main PWBs that I use for diagnostics. The one has a dead USB port, but all other functions work. Another makes black prints, etc. It only takes a few minutes to swap in the main and see if the original problem vanishes. I'm guessing this isn't a resource you have, though. =^..^=

Alas, that I do not have. That's not exactly what I wanted to hear, but if that's it, then I suppose I need to do what I need to do. Though, if I had to venture a guess, I'd say that you're talking about the PBA, right?

          Thanks again, too.

Sorry. Sloppy use of terminology. "PBA, Main Controller"
