HP 9050 Scan Failure Error 30.1.13

This HP 9050 has had this intermittent problem for several years. Typically one would have to open the and close the scanner bed with a little bit of force behind it 2-3 times and it would get past this issue.

I flashed the firmware with no success.
The error appears every time no matter how much abuse I give it.
I tried unplugging it from the wall for 10 min a few times with no results.
HP support is worthless for this issue...and there doesn't seem to be anything useful in the service manual...
    Has anyone had this problem??

*edit* About six months ago I thoroughly dissected, cleaned and resembled the relevant boards, ADF and scanner area; although, I have not replaced any parts yet.

From what you've said and what I read in the manual, I think you'd have the best chances with the SCB (scanner control PCA: RH5-3075-090CN). Other than ADF rollers and a few other exceptions, the rest of the scanner and ADF are only available as an overpriced assembly.

The ASIC is the scanner board processor. If re-seating connectors in the scanner does not help, it's the only thing left to do. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      blackcat,
I cannot seem to find the "scanner control PCA: RH5-3075-090CN" in the manual. I do see a scanner control PCB: RH5-3075-000CN in the service manual but I found it on the interwebs. I checked it (again) and reseated everything and sprayed it down with electrical cleaner. Physically, I see nothing wrong. I guess there is no other option, but to pressure the owner to buy a new board, find another 9050 for cheap somewhere, or scrap the machine.
It is really sad that the MFP cannot print with the scanner inoperable in my opinion (just like its retarded that the all in one inkjets that I know of refuse to do anything when any cartridge is empty).

I did just now notice that neither bulb seems to light during the startup. I find this a little odd, I am pretty sure they are supposed to as part of the starting procedure, riiiight?

I checked the ASIC board, everything looks good, in fact everything on this machine looks like in near perfect condition.

      Thanks for replying!

Don't worry much about the last three digits of the part number. When HP/Canon updates part numbers they increment the last three digits. All this means is that your manual is a few years older than mine. =^..^=
