    Olivetti compatibility

    Hi guys,

Long time lurker. I come on this site quiet often to check for problems etc. Mainly Konica Minolta just wanted to know whether the brands Olivetti and Konica Minolta were the same in the sense that imaging units, firmware, toner etc are compatible. It's a Olivetti MF250 so Konica Minolta C253.
Many advice would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

Negative on that. My experience was a KM C451 rebadged as an Olivetti. I ordered a KM imaging unit which was not recognized. Fortunately for me there was still ~60k remaining on the original chip which I swapped to the KM unit. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I can't seem to find any Olivetti consumables or firmware etc. I was thinking of flashing the firmware on the machine to konica c253 but its a possibility I might destroy the board?
Anyone else shed some light on this?

I've never tried it. I have no idea what would happen.

If it were Kyocera I'd say that you don't need firmware. On Kyocera you just set the destination U265 to whichever manufacturer you'd like it to be. I don't know the answer for Konica Minolta.

          Re: Olivetti compatibility

I replied to a thread re Oce 2222 to KonMin 230 many moons ago and it appears that flashing the firmware does indeed convert the machines to accept, whichever manufacturers firmware you use, I.U's and toners. Hope this helps.
Check out the original thread started by Darren King to see how the story unfolded

They are the same machines but badged differently. As for consumables I.e toner and IUs again they are the same but will have different chips and possibly end caps. The end caps you should be able to cut the differences off but chip will need to be changed.

Sorry only just noticed you are U.K based

Olivetti parts and consumables can be purchased from: P.C Care, Tel 01992 462882 or check out their website for other contact details.
That is if you do not want to convert it.
              Hope this helps
