DP-4510 Light Copies

I have a customer who has this machine that I am not at all familiar with.

They said it was making light copies so they put in a new cartridge and it is still making light copies.

I haven't seen the machine yet, I was just wondering if it was something easy I could fix for them.

If internal prints are OK then just clean the optics. If not, perform manual toner add in general functions a couple of times, check cq if ok, if yes adj f6-21 up and f6-65 and 66 up as well. Run at least 100 copies and keep on adj till cq is ok. (of course before you start check dev if ok) good luck

Panasonic has changed the composition of their toner for a dusting problem they were having, so the copies will never be as dark as the customer was use to again. If it is really light you can manually add toner and then run f8-09 to lock it in.

i agree with the 1st post, clean the optics 1st (pm machine)

run a print info report in F9 to check density

set the default to text, they r set as text/photo as standard

adjust f6-19 (bias) just incase the drum is worn

check condition of the drum

Try checking the following:

Check the optics first as others have stated by going into F1 mode and printing a test print (Or if you cannot tell by looking at the test prints, try printing something from a computer if it is networked.)

In addition to what others have said to check, Put the machine in Text mode and check these values to make sure they are set to "0" : F6-49, F6-54.

If everything else looks ok, whenever one of these machines gives me problems with either extremely light copies, or overtoned copies, 90% of the time it boils down to performing the following tasks:


1) Change the developer
2) Rig the two front door safety switches
3) move the toner hopper out and away from the developer unit ( So
there is no toner added. The developer already partly consists of
toner)
4) Perform F8-09 (Toner Density Adj. )
5) Check F6-21 and make sure it is between -45 and -35 (Tech
support recommends around -50, but I have found that this value
results in VERY light copies.

Now on all my machines, turning F6-21 up will make the copies lighter, and turning it down will make the copies darker. Adjust that as needed. However, as TJRC stated, the copies will never be as dark as they should be. I haven't had any of these problems with the 8060, 8045, 8035 line.
