I have a DP-C322 that has had the scan function since installation of the machine (3 years ago). One day it gave the message, "option not installed, please contact your dealer." I printed the F9 reports-machine info and it showed it wasn't recognizing the HD. I reseated all connections on the HD and it started working again. For the last 6 months, I have had to do this twice. Now it has happened again, but reseating hasn't worked. I had another HD in stock and replaced it, the wireharness and the little board it comes with...no luck. The HD still isn't getting recognized. I have a DP-C354 in the showroom and the HD's are compatible and swapped them, it worked on the 354, but still not on the 322. The boards are not compatible however so I can't use them to swap around to find out which one it is. Any idea's?

So after you've reseated the HD from the old machine to new and vise versa they will shop up as there on the F5 / 6 print outs? Maybe your NWS key is actually bad? Also check the board that your HD is connected to.
Maybe you pinched a wire somehow when putting pannels back on. I've done that to the fuser on these before they made the new and improved PM kits to relocate the harness.
EDIT: Also if you have the chance to swap the boards / HD's again do a shipment set / all job clear. Just to make sure that your on a clean slate. Hopefully your end user doesn't have much stuff crammed into the memory. -
When swapping the HD's, I did the shipment set/all job clear. How can I check if the NWS key is bad? The 354 doesn't need the key to scan...comes already installed on the board. And how can I check the SC board that the HD connects to? It is the main board and all other functions that route through that board are working, i.e. network printing, faxing... That board is getting power...just not sure how to isolate troubleshooting for the HD since it only routes to the SC board and other funtions on the SC are working.Comment

Ok I apologize. For some reason I keep thinking that these new machines still have NWS keys on them. I was scouring through exploded parts views last night looking for a key so I could get you a part number but couldn't locate one.
If the SC board and main board are seeming to be working properly I would try the HVPS next. It could be cutting short somehow.Comment

For some reason I kept thinking you swapped the SC board out with the HD when you were doin the part swaps. Well this is a good thing to know and I'll have my other techs read this for future purposes.Comment
