DPC 262, J70, ADF constantly seeing paper present.

I've had a similar problem on an 8060 that turned out to be the DRV board. F4-103 shows the sensor is constantly on. I've swapped the ADF to a different machine, and it works properly. I've replaced the sensor, harness, SCN, EC, and the ORC? (the small board below the exhaust fan) boards. I've actually had this problem happen twice within a week, although the first time I found out they were trading out the machine, and I wasn't to fix it.

I guess to describe the operation, it's basically as if you taped the paper present sensor to the lid. With or without paper present the roller starts turning once you hit the print button. if paper is present, the first sheet feeds through, the ADF keeps turning until it eventually stops and shows a J-70. No paper present the rollers turn and eventually it reports the same jam.

I have seen this before. The original detection sensor actuator is most likely broken on one side. Take apart the ADF lid and check the actuator. Also, the harness coming off of the lid has little room by the rear hinge pin and gets pinched easily.

Sorry for the delayed response, but still trying to discover the fix. Thanks for the reply mojorolla, but as I mentioned earlier there is no problem on that ADF when it is moved to another machine it works fine, and when a different ADF is put onto this machine it exhibits the same issues. The problem is in the copier, not the ADF, and I was mistaken in the first post, I had left the 8060 open for the DRV board, but it was actually cured by the SC board (after speaking to the tech that had to finish the call because I was on vacation). But I have already tried the SC board in this machine, and it did not cure the problem.

Have you checked the voltages from the SCN to the ADF board? LVPS to SCN board ? You said SC didn't work. If the problem does not follow the ADF, then I would think it to be a board or harness.

Check sensor of ADF cover. I've met this problem before.

Thanks for the reply Luong, but I am sure it is not related to the ADF itself as we have already swapped the entire unit with a known working ADF, and the problem remains...

I did swap out the SCN Board, with no luck, but have yet to check the LVPS. I was hoping to get the customer a loaner machine, but the boss wanted another tech to inspect the machine before that happens. The tech called me yesterday and it appears was having no more success then I've had. I will mention the LVPS to him, if the call is not returned to me.

Just a heads up, the machine finally got fixed in the shop. From what the tech told me, there was a loose connector on the control panel board, after resetting the connector, the problem was solved.
