I have an 8045 that runs all the toner out of the dv unit, i tried fresh dv, tdc sensor and working dev unit out of a good machine, i have f6-21 set to around -44, i was gonna go toner hoper but i would think if that was the issue i would get an add toner message, this is not the case just runs till its out of toner and keeps spitting really light to blank copies. Im sure im missing something stupid help!!!!

after removing the old dev and toner and replacing it with new dev, did you do a F8-09 in service mode,
how long does it last before you have problems, i take it the copies start going feint? -
Are you using third party toner? This can cause density loss with big jobs. This is what I do:
-Set developer gap to 1.00 mm. The book says 1.05mm, but that is for genuine OEM toner.
-Manually add toner under General Settings and run the F1 page memory test page. Add toner until this pattern is nice and dense.
-Once the pattern looks good, I then run F8-9.
- Set F6-21 to -35. Set F6-62 to 0.
-Depending on which machine you have, some will have an F6-64,65. If it does, I set them both to 5. Sometime during production, they decided to remove the sensor under the OPC and the ADF gearpack on the front.
-I have never had to turn of Quantum on these machines. The older machines (4530,6030) always have Quantum turned off.
-There is also the 3 slotted gear that feed toner form the hopper into the DV unit. I have seen this get bound up with toner.Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!Comment

One thing I do before doing anything else is to replace the Charge wire. I don't know if the techs you work with are as seemingly baffled by the procedure to replace the charge wire as the ones who work with me, but if the wire hasn't been replaced in a wire it will put an excessive charge on the drum, causing the density readings to be erratic. I would guess 50% of my light copy issues get fixed by replacing the charge wire.Comment
