    [CQ] DP2330

I have a DP2330 that I think may be overtoned. I noticed that the drum, both old and new drum, has a film of toner on it when the machine is idle. It can be wiped off, not adhered to drum. The print on the copy seems to be raised alot. I just recently installed a drum, cleaning blade, charge roller, and upper fusing roller. The drum, cleaning blade and charge roller lasted the life cycle, which is why I replaced them. The upper fusing roller only lasted only 35k due to damage of seperators having toner buildup which damaged roller. The developer has 70k on it. I was told not to be too concerned with F6 readings, but listed them just in case.

    F6-21 -48
    F6-38 -19
    F6-65 -127
    F6-66 -6

I was told that I could decrease F6-21 to a more (-) value to tone down the developer. And in my frustations, I am not sure I ran F8-14 when I replaced the drum. The drum now has only 2k on it at this time. Should I or could I run an F8-14 at this point without causing an issue? Keep in mind this issue was present before anything was dont to the machine.

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Not new to the industry, but very new to the Panasonics.

First you should check you doctor blade to mag roller gap. Too small a gap will cover your drum. Gap should be .6 mm, or roughly the thickness of a credit card.Set your f6-38 to 0(id standard voltage) after that, do your f8-14 . then, do about 50 black copies, then print your f5-f6, and recheck your drum surface. If the machine still overtones, lower your f6-21 4 points at a time, make 30 black copies and recheck.

Thank you for responding. Should f6-38 always be set to 0? Also, I was told you cannot run skyshots on a Panasonic. They come out blank. Can you elaborate on this as well.

You can run skyshots but it is off by default. It must be turned on in F5 service mode.

When I returned to this machine to replace the junction gate I broke putting in a hot roller, I adjusted F6-21 more neg. by about -8 total and the copies/prints are good. No more toner on drum at idle state. Thanks onetec amd mojo for your help. The fog has cleared a little.
