    DPC262 noise

I have a DPC262 that has a popping noise coming from the fuser area. Total count is 220k. Sounds just like the bearings are causing it. Has anyone seen this? Is this a common thing. I ask because when I worked on Ricohs, it was common.

The entire fuser unit is replaced at 240k so you are very close on the count. You can separate the belt unit from the pressure roll front to inspect it. I have never seen a bearing go bad, but I have seen a few belts crack and make some interesting noises.

Thanks Mojorolla. I disassembled the belt unit from the main unit. The noise is only when the fuser unit is whole and heated in the machine. Belt looks worn as well as press roll. I have been informed that there is no need to do the 120k PM on this machine as long as you do the 240k PM. So the belt unit may have not been changed. What is your opinion on skipping the 120k PM? Will the following last till 240k? Fuser belt unit, cleaning unit, STR unit? Thanks for your response.

I always skip to 120k PM. Once in a while, the STR roll won't make it but the IT belt and fuser always make it to 240k with out any problems.

Your problem sounds like itz the orange sponge roller inside the belt. They do wear out and as the unit heats up, the inside of the belt will have uneven rubbing with the orange roller. This will only create noise, but will not effect print quality.
