    Polygon motor error DP-150A

I'm a Ricoh tech who got the bad luck to have one of these in my territory. It's throwing an E-122 code, which according to the manualis a polygon error. I'm guessing that the entire laser unit has to be replaced as I don't see the mirror as a separate item.
If this is an older device (it looks it), is it worth trying to repair if I can get the part or should I let the sales weasals do ther thing and upgrade them?

Almost everytime i've ever had an E1-20 or an E1-22 code on them I had to replace the laser unit. Ya looking at approx. 300.00 - 400.00 for the ass'y. As far as I know ya can't break unit into subsections. That machine is probably somewhere between 5-7 yrs old. Let the sales try to upgrade them; it's just not worth sinking that much money and time into replacing the part on that old of machine. That's just my opinion though. (that and 95 cents will get ya a coffee at the convenience store..lol.) Good luck..

Thanks for the reply. I'm forced in the short term to repair the box, but I am hoping to upgrade them to get the thing out of my territory. An MP161 will do the same thing without the worry of trying to find parts here and there.
Luckily, we had a donor in one of our other offices so it's only going to cost postage.
