    mpc3500 duplex jams

Im having a problem with an mpc 3500 they are running 100# glossy text (150g) from tray 1 duplexing using the thick 1 setting and im getting fusing exit and duplex entrance jams. Paper is in spec according to the sm.
I have replaced the fusing exit sensors + turn gate after fuser + motor that turns the turn gate. Im out of ideas.

I'm looking at the operating instructions, and it shows a recommended paper weight for duplexing to be 64-169 gm/meter squared, or 17-45lb.

If I'm reading your post, you state that it is 100# paper? That sounds way too thick for the duplex section. If it is 150 gm/meter squared, then it is within spec. You listed both weights, and they are not equal to each other.

    Could you clarify?

From my experience, I am not too lucky duplexing paper that is too thick, without manually doing it through the bypass drawer, and sometimes that needs help.

If you look at a paper conversion chart
      100# text is 150 gm/ms
ya I agree its to thick for duplexing but the sm sayes it will do it. we also had ricoh out and he also said the paper is in tolerence.

Yes, I do see that the 100# text crosses to approximately 150 gsm.

Sorry, I saw the glossy text and didn't compute the specific text-type paper to the gsm conversion. I'm so used to normal bond paper.

Even though the Ricoh rep stated that it is in tolerance as far as the gsm is concerned, maybe the machine just doesn't like that specific text paper texture. What was his suggestion for resolving the issue?

Has other equivalent weights of paper used successfully? Is the paper maybe creasing weird at the turn or something?

Is the paper somehow causing the drive/idle rollers at the fusing exit area to slip a bit, and/or is the duplex entrance drive not quite grabbing the paper?

Have you tried the paper buckle settings to see if it helps? I believe that there is a buckle setting for duplex entrance.

The Ricoh rep adjusted some humidity adjustments because its in a temp controlled computer room and its freaking cold in there. condensation was building up in fusing exit. im not sure what all he did I wasn't their when he was. they just gave me this machine to see what I can do. the customer didn't want the primary tech back. he is fairly new and he was getting nowhere with this problem I cleaned the duplex entrance rollers and it ran 1500 copies no jams. a week later they called back and it was jamming
before it hit those rollers but I will try duplex buckle next time im out there they only run this job twice a month. and it runs 20# paper perfect
