Ricoh MP C2500 Dark Display

Hello all. and thanks for the help
I have a Ricoh Aficio MP C2500 that prints and copies fine. cant scan because I cant read the display. if you shine a flashlight on the screen sideways you can see the information but not enough to do much. do you think it is the LCD B2231498 or the invertor board B223 1486 or something else.

You cab try seeing if you can connect your meter in such a way as to read the output from the invertor. Be careful, it is over 100V AC. If you have voltage it is the back light on the LCD.

The backlight on this works the same as a laptop lcd. It has a tube light with inverter board. Although fairly robust they do fail, and replacing the lamp normally cures it.

Hey Polarbear any hints on where to get one? I dont see the part number in the parts manual. so I am guessing its a non standard repair

You will most likely have to identify the maker of the LSD panel. Might be a manufacturer's label on the panel with their model number on it. On some the back light is not removable with out destroying the panel.

Someone started a thread where they were looking for the same thing, and someone else gave a source on where to get the back light bulbs to LCD panels. That was a long time ago though.
I think if you search here for "LCD panel back light bulb" you'll come across that thread.
Hopefully the place is still open.

The inverter has a part number: B223 1486 Invertor - TFT

The panel is in all probability made by Sharp as are most lcd panels in these machines. There should be a label on it somewhere.

If all else fails replace the lcd (without the touch panel glass) as it is 2 separate pieces.

thanks for all the information everyone. the user is going to think about the repair. another question would be can this still be used as a scanner but from the PC pulling the scan verses the machine sending it to the pc thanks again

As long as the only problem is the display, yes. Just install the TWAIN drivers on the PC.

Almost any Twain compliant program will do.

The Proper Term for the Backlight is "CCFL"...here are the search results for CTN!:

Check the fuse (+24V) on LCD board.
