    MPC 306 zspf

    Hi all,

I work in a copier workshop setting up all Ricoh devices and a MPC 306 zspf has just arrived. Part of my role is to update the firmware on all devices and it's easy enough but .... I need to update the firmware on the new mark 2 android smart ops panel. I have all info on how to do this from "my Ricoh" but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to put the copier into "recovery mode" I know how to do it on the mark 1 but cannot do it on the mark 2. Does anyone know how to put the device into "recovery mode" please ????????

Press the power switch while pressing the [STOP] key.
Continue pressing the [STOP] key until "Shutting Down" is displayed.

After shutdown has finished, unplug power cord and then press power switch. The power LED should come on briefly. After it goes off, the power supply is completely discharged and normal startup to recovery mode can be done. You can also just unplug and leave unplugged for at least 10 minutes.

Thank you for the information slimslob but ...... it just powered up as normal. I need it to power up in recovery mode so I can update the ops panel firmware.

Android OS update is done from the SD card slot on the Smart Operation Panel, not the service slot used for main machine updates. If it does not auto start at power on, either the SD card is not properly configured or the machine is entering Quick Startup Mode.

          Ok here's the answer guys.

          Download the Ops firmware from
My-Ricoh but do not unzip the file, put the file onto an SD card.

Change the power up setting of the panel by doing the
          following.

          user tools
          screen features
          screen device
          settings
          screen start up mode.
          change to normal
          power off
          the printer.

Insert the SD card into the slot on the left side
          of the ops panel.
Remove the small white cover on the left side of
the ops panel. Behind this panel are 3 small buttons. From the back
to the front we shall call them 1,2 and 3.
Hold down number 1 and 3
( not the middle one ) and power on the printer. Keep holding these
buttons until the screen goes blue.
          Now release these buttons and
hold down buttons 1 and 2 for about 5 seconds.
          Release the buttons
and the panel will go into recovery mode.

          Once recovery mode
has started, use the same 3 buttons to navigate up and down on the
screen. Buttons 1 and 2 will do this and button 3 is the select
          button.
Use button 2 to scroll to apply update from SD card and
use button 3 to select the option, scroll down to the zip file and
          push button 3
The panel will display "install SD card"
but that's ok, just give it a little while and it will find the SD
          card.
Follow the onscreen prompts and once complete, remove the SD
          card and select reboot system.

Now go back and change the
power on back to quick mode.

Thanks for this information, I too like to keep all Ricoh FW upto date.

Can I ask does is there any issues that the SOP firmware will fix, for example I've had a few that seen to take ages to boot up, the SOP just shows the user tools icon nothing else.

Also what is the difference between the Mark 1 & Mark 2 panel was the mark one fitted to the MPC305ZSP?

Also just been on My-Ricoh for the 306 deeplink japan firmware page, which one is the SOP firmware please?

I'll update this next time I see one.

                  Hi,

OK, I went to update an mpc306 SOP panel but simply couldnot get it to boot into recovery mode, I followed the instructions above, setting the start-up mode to normal, powering off then removing the small cover& holding down buttons 1&3 etc but the machine just boots as normal.

Has anyone else managed to update this Android panel?

                  Thanks, Copier Tech.
