Ricoh MP C6501 - SC555

Hello all you kind tech's

I'm struggling with this MP C6501 throwing SC555 - periodically (but often) - just did when just doing nothing (only me watching it) "boing" SC555 out of the blue...

So far changed:

Pressure roller thermistor
Lwr. fusing lamp
AC control board

Filter cleaned.

So I'm open for suggestions if anyone can recall a similar thrill.

I have an MPC6501 that keeps throwing SC555 Codes. There are approximately 50,000 copies / prints on the unit. I replaced the Pressure Roller Thermistor yesterday - it had a build up of toner on it - but the code came back a couple of hours later. I'm going to try firmware today and probably order a lamp as well as the lamp harness / wiring (if possible). The lamp cables didn't looked pinched against the frame and all the insulation looked to be intact.


Any other suggestions?


Your pressure roller thermistor had a build up in 50K?
I have to question why the pressure roller cleaning roller[AE042080] was not doing its job.
Is the oil roller[AE040015] dry?
Is the customer using coated stocks?
How were the other thermistors? Were they Dirty? Were they replaced[AW100130]?
Did you monitor the thermistor in SP 1106-004?
How is the wiring from the thermistor to the fuser connector? Pinched? Routed near the lift mechanism?


I went back to the basics and started with the checking all the wiring and cables for pinched wires, etc. When I tested the continuity of the pressure roller heat lamp, I found that it was open. When I pulled it out to do a visual check and to make sure I was testing it correctly, I could see that the filament was broken.

I have found that pressure roller errors are frequently caused by the pressure roller thermostat.

We've had several of these throw fuser codes, and are finding power issues (mostly dips) behind it. The newer ESP surge protectors have a digital readout of number of spikes, drops, etc and can be shown to the customer. I believe the amperage draw is enough on these machines, that if shared with almost anything of significance, that comes 'on' at the same time as the fuser, it will throw the SC-555 or -552. Check the power before throwing part$ into it!

Yes. When one of them opens, the pressure roller surface will get enough heat from the fusing to get to the ready temperature, but once you start running paper through, it declines sharply and throws an error.

Changed these today - result: power cut off in the building they just love me...

New fusingunit ordered, my boss gonna kill me now.

I've got sore balls from these POS also, can't get them out of the field soon enough, balls will be damaged beyond repair!

Went back and changed the entire unit, the old one had about 1.2 mill on its back.

Just between us, the power failure was caused by an loose wire not connected to anyting other than the fusingunit frame. Some tech just mounted the screw in the thermofuse...
