    [CQ] LD330 charge roller issues

I have a Lanier LD330 that has to have it's charge roller replaced every few months. The machine only has 169,000 copies. I have rebuilt the drum section a couple of times, but the machine goes through way too many charge rollers. Is it time to replace the entire PCU?

I'm assuming you're having a copy quality issue, can you give us a little more detail as to why you're replacing charge rollers.

      all genuine parts/supplies?
I`ve personally never had to replace one outside of a PM schedule.
You could also just pop in a type 1027 PCU as has been done, suggested, and discussed on countless occasions here.

Yes I am having quality issues. It looks like smeared copies and/or really bad dark lines. Copies look great after changing the charge roller.

I do use genuine toner and developer, but normally compatible drums and rollers unless they are not avialable

Poor copy quality problems when you`re using Generic Parts almost always come back to the generic parts/supplies.
The headaches and extra service calls generated, BY FAR outweigh any initial cost savings.

In this case, can I assume, you`re using a generic Cleaning blade too? Sounds to me like poor cleaning, so the excess toner on the drum contaminates the PCR. Been there.... done that.

(just curious...Densigraphics generic Products by any chance?)

The drum is compatible but the charge, cleaning blade and cleaning roller are listed as Genuine Ricoh. I get nearly all of my copier parts from Precision Roller so I do not know if Densigraphics supplies them with generic or not.

Are you replacing the charge cleaning roller at the same time that you replace the charge roller? The only way to be sure is to order the 60K PM kit from Ricoh, PMB20560K. Kit has charge roller, charge cleaning roller, cleaning blade and pick off pawls. Kit plus Genuine Ricoh drum, B0399510, and I usually go 90K to 100K before starting to get drum spots and have to rebuild again.

I would suspect the developer needs changed. It might be causing overtone and contaminating the charge roller. I used to just rebuild the ENTIRE PCU back in the day with Drum, Developer, charge roller, blade, and clean roller.
