I had this issue, I believe it's when the customer removes & refits a used toner etc.

I got round it by setting Sp3100-02 (low toner message set by TD sensor only)

You probably have a problem with the sub hopper assembly or the toner transport motor was mounted improperly at the factory. There has been a number of toner issues with that series caused by the following:

      CAUSES:
      1. The pin for the Toner Transport Motor was not fitted into the bracket hole correctly at the factory.

      2. The Toner Transport Screw was twisted or bent during factory assembly.

      FIELD COUNTERMEASURE PROCEDURE:

      1. For each color, check the pin for the Toner Transport Motor.
      2. If the pin was not fitted into the bracket hole correctly, remove the Transport Motor Unit Assembly [A]

and fit the pin through the hole. If necessary, replace the unit.

      3. Check the Toner Transport Screw.
      4. If the screw is bent replace the Sub Hopper [B].

I do see that you have already replaced the sub hopper..................did you check that pin for the toner transport motor?

Apart from the hoper issue where the toner supply slinky snaps, the board for the rfid connector on the machine side breaks, so these need to be replaced, just order the four of them.

I thought this model is gravity fed toner, no "slinkey" ?

            Hi there!
RICOH-Germany sent out a TB to change the near end display:
            METIS SP3110-001 = 15, 002 = 10, 003 = 10, 004 = 10
            GRIFFIN SP3110-001 = 15, 002 = 5, 003 = 5, 004 = 5
The toner near end message appears much later, and the customer is not playing arround with the tonerbottles anymore.
            Greetings...

It's both. The toner bottle gravity feeds into a sub hopper which contains some stirring paddles and a toner sensor The sensor controls when the bottle should turn to feed toner from the bottle to the sub hopper. From this hopper there is a 'slinky' which pumps the toner through a pipe in an 'S' shape into the developer unit. This slinky can break causing the toner to clog in the pipe causing false toner end detection based on the TD Sensor in the dev tank.
