    Scanning fail while RDP active

    Hi guys

I have a problem with scan to folder. All the users are setup to scan to their specific folder on a server. The server is running normal Windows 7 Pro. Scanning will work fine until a user will remote desktop into the server from the outside. When i restart the server and the rdp user gets disconnected the scanning will work again.

    Any ideas

Most likely because Windows 7 Professional is workstation, not a Server. RDP access logs out all local access. See if you can setup a VPN through your routerer/DSL modem/cable modem. Either that or setup up separate computers as scan server and RDT host. Also check to see if you can setup a virtual machine on the Windows 7 Pro. Use the VM as the RDT host.

I ran a app/script a few months ago on a Windows 7 machine which enabled it to run multiple rdp sessions. Do you think this will solve the problem in this case?

      Thanks

It makes sense that Remote Desktop, especially if it is Microsoft's implementation, would shut down all other ports for security reasons. I think you should try one such as VNC:

TightVNC: VNC-Compatible Free Remote Control / Remote Desktop Software

This version is free and it works! I have tried it on our business network!

          Good Luck!
