    ricoh 4500 replacing hard drive

    i need to replace the hard drive on a mpc4500 . do i need to format the HD in FAT ? what is the procedure. thanks

    Let the MFP format the drive. Ricoh uses a Unix format for hard drives so even if you format it, the device will just wipe it out in favour of its own file system.

      Just install the drive and execute sp 5832-1. Be sure and back up the address book if possible.

        how to backup address book ? do need a thumb drive? or is this a SP mode

            5846 51 I believe is the SP mode, back up to a SD card. then after the HDD change/format 5846 52 to restore the backup.
